Walking the Halls

On Friday we had to take Wander to the clinic for some minor surgery. The girls and I walked the halls while waiting for him, since we didn't know if it would take just a few minutes or several hours, and Wander might need me to drive him home. I brought snacks for the girls, but didn't bring any sippy cups or toys.

Shortly after arriving, Sparkle complained that there were no toys and nothing to do in the waiting room. I thought of Grandma and exclaimed that there was lots to do if you knew how what to look for. Count the chairs, walk along the stripes in the carpet, hunt for colors, identify the number of different types of chairs, read the names of the doctors on the doors, etc. Sparkle and Glitter still just sat there, but at least I didn't hear any more complaints about having nothing to do.

We ended up passing the time with several walks down the long hallway to the water fountain. We hunted for things that were green and came up with quite a few. We counted the number of steps it took to walk the length of the hallway (85), the length of the room (25), the width of the room (16) and the width of the hallway (6). We looked out of the window. We got water from the sink next to the coffee pot. We didn't get any nasty looks from the people sitting in the waiting rooms.

Turned out that the surgery wouldn't be that day after all, so we go home just in time for lunch. Wander ended up going in to work, but I decided that I still wasn't going to do school.

Here are some sweet sisters.
